Save the date! Backhausdance will be in residence in the garden in Spring 2023 with evening performances on the weekend of April 29 & 30. With public residencies on Thursdays, everyone is invited to watch the Garden Flow Creation Process and engage with the dancers! The general public is invited to come view us in residency at the garden on March 30, April 6, 13, 20 & 27, 10:30am-1pm. For more involvement, join our community classes (sign up required) on March 30, April 6, 13, and 20 9:30-11am.

Join us for a magical evening in the garden as we welcome the return of Backhausdance to Sherman Library & Gardens. The evening will begin with a drinks reception on our beautiful patio followed by a stunning dance performance throughout the garden. The dancers will be exploring the garden with their characteristic powerful, athletic dance; emotional storytelling and whimsical, humorous glimpses at the human experience.
This dazzling event follows the success of Garden Flow 2021 and will be a sell-out. We only have 200 tickets available for each night so book early.

$60 General Ticket includes single admission to Garden Flow – one drink coupon for pre-event reception, performance and post-show party.
$300 VIP Package includes admission for two to Garden Flow – unlimited beverages at pre-event reception, performance and post-show party, one reserved parking spot and exclusive ‘Meet and Greet’ with the dancers after the show.
$1500 VIP Sponsor underwrite the event and help to bring the finest performing arts to Sherman. Community Dance Classes
Four Thursdays: March 30, April 6, 13, and 20 from 9:30 am to 11:00 am
Love to dance and love Sherman Library and Gardens? Join us for a unique community partnership between Backhausdance, Orange County’s award-winning contemporary dance company, and Sherman Library and Gardens with a new creative movement workshop series designed for all ages and abilities. Any experience welcomed!
Led by Backhausdance artistic director Jennifer Backhaus and Amanda Kay White, associate artistic director, you will have the opportunity to learn Backhausdance technique using the springtime garden landscape as your inspiration and outdoor stage.
Let’s explore the art and energy of dance together in the beauty of the garden and have fun! No dance experience is necessary. All classes are held outdoors so please wear comfortable clothes, sneakers/shoes, a hat, and sunscreen, and bring water to stay hydrated.
